How is the new VIN Precision+ different from traditional, or standard, VIN decoding?

Standard VIN decoding utilizes on a portion of a vehicle’s 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) rather than the full VIN. As such, standard decoding is often unable to identify the exact equipment, and sometimes trim level, associated with a specific vehicle when it was produced.

VIN Precision+ leverages ChromeData’s unrivaled as built database and a sophisticated algorithm to decode the full 17-digit VIN for a specific vehicle, revealing its exact trim and equipment specifications at the time it rolled off the assembly line.

Options that may not be easily identified -- even when visually inspecting a vehicle such as blind spot monitor or adaptive cruise control -- can be associated with a specific VIN using VIN Precision+. The result is a precise used vehicle value that takes into consideration all important value-defining features.
